Jueves. Como es usual el despertador suena a las ocho de la mañana y yo me levanto de un salto para preparar la mesa, revisar el refrigerador y, si es necesario, bajar los cuatro pisos para comprar algo en el Oxxo. Después del desayuno, que es mi obligación, me siento a escanear los periódicos, leo las noticias (los encabezados, en realidad), reviso el mail, abro las ventanas, y me doy un baño. A las diez de la mañan comienza mi batalla diaria por recuperar el orden mental perdido por días y días de ocio descontrolado. Tengo cuatro libro junto a mí: Less Than One, de Joseph Brodsky, un libro de crónicas y ensayos en el que me hundo cada tanto para una bocanada de buena prosa; también tengo A Girl with a Monkey, una recopilación de cuentos Leonard Michaels, del que me había propuesto traducir un cuento llamado Viva la Tropicana, pero he desistido. Guerra y Paz, de Tolstoi, en edición Aguilar, y The Oxford Book of American Short Stories que ayer se me acaba de deshojar. Mierda. En su diaria preparación para ser mejor, Robertina sacude, habla sola y menea los brazos como si viviéramos dentro una Giornata Particolare. Hace calor. Dentro de unos minutos debo ir por dos escritorios, uno que nos han regalado y otro que nos han prestado.
Al volver, lo único que quiero es aprovechar estos últimos días de total libertad y ponerme a leer lo que sea. Luego, cuando den las cinco o las seis, espero sentarme a la mesa para escribir. Este es el mejor intento de hoy.
Notarán que he cambiado mucho quizá porque ya no justifico los textos. Es un gran cambio, me parece.
